The Troodos site was established in 2012 by the department of Labour inspection, Air quality division. Since 2016 it has been incorporated into CAO, operating under both the flags of CyI and DLI. The site is located at the Chromium peak at 1819 m a.s.l., which is near the top of the Troodos mountain, the highest mountain complex in the island, and is representative of the free troposphere of Cyprus.
